Lemon Drop NYC

Lemon Drop NYC

On Monday, April 18th we joined the Craft Yarn Council in New York City to take part in the Lemon Drop – an event designed to spread the word about knitting & crocheting to relieve stress. April is National Stress Awareness Month, so we handed out stress-busting hand-knit and crocheted lemon stress balls! We had 2,400 stitched for the event, and we gave away ALL of them to NYC residents.

The day started off at the Today Show, where we got to see Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker! Front and centre with a huge yarn bombed Stitch Away Stress sign, the sea of yellow was hard to miss.

Later, we headed to the Penn Station Post Office – since it was the last day to file your taxes, it wasn’t hard to find someone in need of a stress ball!

We had a great time chatting with people, explaining what we were doing, and talking about the health benefits of knitting and crocheting. People were really interested in the cause, and learning to knit and crochet.

The theme of the day was to Stress Less and Smile More – and we definitely did that! It was a beautiful day, made even better by sharing our love of our favorite thing – stitching.

  2. I was wondering about the yellow cards “Stitch away stress”, is there somewhere we can copy some of those little cards to attach to the lemons we make, thank you, Lynda Carter

  3. please keep me posted on future events. Thank you, Iris
