Caron Simply Soft Christmas Stocking Tutorial


Caron Christmas Stocking in Caron Simply Soft yarn by RepeatCrafterMe

Hi! Sarah Zimmerman here with a super easy Christmas Stocking made with a double strand of Caron Simply Soft yarn! The best thing about this stocking is that it is crocheted in one piece. No need to fasten off and re-join for the heel. You can easily make stockings for the whole family and with 52 shades in the Caron Simply Soft line, everyone can have a different color!

Materials:

  • Size H Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Caron Simply Soft Yarn in color of your choice for the main stocking as well as white. You will only need one skein of each.

Abbreviations:
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
DC Decrease = Double Crochet Decrease

Before you begin, wind your main color into two balls of yarn. Do the same with the skein of white. You will be working with a double strand of Caron Simply Soft.

Stocking is worked from the toe upward.

Stocking Pattern:

with Main Color

Magic ring, chain 2 and make 15 HDC in ring, join to first HDC, chain 2

Round 2: 2 HDC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (30 HDC)

Round 3-11: HDC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (30 HDC)

Round 12: HDC in first, 2 DC in next 10, HDC in remaining 19 stitches, join, chain 2

Round 13-14: HDC in first, DC in next 20 stitches, HDC in remaining stitches, join, chain 2

Round 15: HDC in first, make 10 DC Decrease over the next 20 stitches, HDC in remaining stitches, join, chain 2

Round 16-30: HDC in each stitch around, join, chain2 (30 HDC)

Join in white yarn

Round 31: HDC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (30 HDC)

Round 32-36: in front posts only, HDC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (30 HDC)
Fold white part of stocking downward over the main stocking.

Round 37: Crab Stitch (also known as Reverse Single Crochet) in each stitch around.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

To add the hanging piece: Join white yarn at the top of the stocking parallel to the heel. Chain 10 and join back to same spot. Weave in ends.
